Description
Suya is a spicy grilled meat skewer popular across West Africa. The meat is coated with a special spice blend called yaji and grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1kg beef or chicken, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup groundnut powder
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon ginger powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 Maggi cubes, crushed
- Vegetable oil
- Wooden skewers
Instructions

Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes.

Mix all spices together to make suya spice (yaji).

Thread meat onto skewers.

Brush meat with oil and coat generously with suya spice.

Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Grill over charcoal or in oven at 400°F for 10-15 minutes.

Turn occasionally until cooked through.

Serve hot with sliced onions, tomatoes, and cabbage.
